There is a spa adjacent to our land in the lake with similar
mineral
contents as the famous spa in Lisdoonvarna. Hence the name "Spa House".

Rossmore consists
of some farms and
belongs to the parish of Woodford (several shops, typical pubs). The
village
is right at the foot of the Slieve Aughty Mountains. You will probably
not find them in any tourist book, but they are magnificient for
walking
across the hills and bogs on lonely boreens (country roads). From the
mountain
tops you could see the Atlantic (Galway Bay), the Burren and Connemara
(to the west) as well as Lough Derg and the irish lowlands with its
moors
(to the east). And even on a sunny day, you might not meet a fellow
tourist.
Furthermore, the famous attractions like the Burren, Cliffs of Moher,
and
Connemara are just daytrips. |
|
| Beside the natural scenery, you do not need to go very far
for the
rich culture and history of Ireland. In less than one hour you could
drive
to the ancient monastery of Clonmacnoise (south of Athlone),
Kilmacduagh
(west of Gort) or Holy Island within Lough Derg (Inish Cealtra near
Mountshannon).
In the bogs around are countless dolmen, wedge tombs, stone circles or
other pre-celtic relicts.
In the vicinity are riding stables and golf courses, you could
go for
fishing on the lake, take a bath or cycle on the small country roads.
And
a trip around Lough Derg by bike is easily done within two days.
